International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day (Oct 15th)
People from every country in the world are invited to add their name to this petition.
Oct. 15th is already recognised annually as International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day across the USA and in parts of Canada.
This petition will be brought to the Australian federal government, bringing to their attention the lack of recognition of this special Remembrance Day in Australia. This petition asks the Australian government to officially declare Oct 15th as International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day across Australia.
Prevalence:
- 1 in every 4 women has lost a baby;
- 1 in every 3 pregnancies ends in loss;
- An estimated 500,000 miscarriages happen each year, across the world;
- 1 in every 148 babies is stillborn; and
- 3 in every 1000 full term babies dies shortly after birth.
Aims of this Petition:
- Official recognition of pregnancy and infant loss;
- To help raise awareness of the extent of this loss;
- To help attract more medical research into this area; and
- To thereby help save the lives of more babies.
